Mirror Frame Assembly & Installation
While unpacking your order, make sure that you check all four pieces of your frame for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If you find any defect please contact us immediately so we can solve the problem. Once you are satisfied you may then assemble your frame. You will need a hammer, some clean rags or newspaper and one lightly dampened rag.
What You’ll Need:
Next, lay the frame face down on a soft surface or place towels under the corners so as not to scratch the frame or the surface it is laid on. Now you can glue the joints with the glue supplied and insert the dovetail locking pins supplied at each of the corners. The flat part of the dovetail pin is the top with the other V shaped end going into the hole first. Gently tap them in with a hammer until top is flush with frame surface. It is best to place rags, paper towels or newspaper under the corners so you don’t get glue on your work surface. Now, take the damp cloth and carefully wipe away any excess glue on both sides of the frame joints. Let glue dry for one hour before installing the frame on your mirror.
Installing Your Frame
While the glue is drying; if you need to replace your old clips you can do it now with the replacement clips we supplied. Be sure to only change one at a time so that your mirror is always being held in place. Then clean your mirror thoroughly with glass cleaner and then the perimeter edges with rubbing alcohol.
To make the installation of your frame go smoothly, you should have a second person to help you with this next step. After the glue is dry you are ready to proceed with the installation of your frame. Before removing the backing on the two faced tape, check the frames fit on your mirror. Make sure the overlap on all sides is the same while test fitting the frames position on your mirror. Check to make sure there are no obstacles such as a medicine cabinet, light fixtures, towel bars etc., that will interfere with you installing the frame. These items can easily be removed and reinstalled as needed, call us if you have any questions.
Once you are satisfied with the fit you should stick up the supplied placement corners inside the top right and left corners by peeling off the tape backing from the tape and pressing them into the two corners snuggly. Be careful not to move the frame while placing the placement corners. Now you can remove the permanent tape backing and install your new frame by carefully placing it on the alignment corners at top and pressing it firmly onto your mirror. Be sure to press firmly all the way around the perimeter of the frame.
*Note – Do not let the full weight of the frame sit on the alignment corners, they are for guidance only, not made to hold the weight.
Now step back and admire your beautiful framed mirror!
